.the science of creation.
30 October 2008last night i had the privilege of giving a seminar on one of my favorite topics, scientific creationism. i estimate that only a very small percentage of this group had much exposure to the scientific plausibility of a created universe. that’s why i enjoy teaching this topic so much; many of the ideas i present are new to many people. as a result, they leave more passionate about the truth of the bible, the historical accuracy in scripture, the power of His spoken word, and the beauty and splendor of His creation. of course, there are countless who disagree with me on this, and the bible warns of scoffers who deliberately forget God’s creation (2 peter 3:3-7) and men who suppress the truth of God (romans 1:18-22). what bothers me is that many flippantly dismiss the credibility of creation without studying or scrutinizing the evidence objectively. the science of creation is not “invoking God where science can’t explain” various anomalies, as i’ve heard said before. it is actually quite an intellectual exercise. i’ve studied things in graduate school that few people know about and have exclaimed, “God, I love the way that you choose to express yourself in the various atomic transitions of this laser-induced plasma! God, you are an awesome God!” and i spend the rest of my day, week, graduate career, and life worshipping and praising an almighty Creator.
romans 1:25 They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised.
my 4-year old daughter sat through the whole seminar. she colored and drew pictures most of the time, but afterwards i asked her what daddy talked about. she at first said that i talked about her, her sister, and her brother because i mentioned my family at the beginning. but after more probing, she said, “you talked about creation. and dinosaurs. and God!” my little girl is growing up so quickly! she’s comprehending a lot more than i realize sometimes.
One Response to “.the science of creation.”

[…] it’s been a busy past few days with some teaching and some travel. thursday night i was invited to teach on creation at the tangent rhythm home group. i do this about each semester and much like last semester, i was very pleased with the response of the group. it’s always fascinating to hear people’s questions and gain new insight into the scientific study of our world being created rather than evolved. yes, many people will undoubtedly disagree with this science, and most won’t even consider it science, but that is expected as the word so clearly illustrates in romans chapter 1 and in 1 peter and in many other places. i’m excited about teaching again at aok, another home group, this wednesday night.
